Inspiring Faith, Transforming Lives Through God's Word

Even The Priest Needed Saving

Reading Leviticus 4–7 honestly gave me a different perspective on modern Christianity.

One thing that caught my attention strongly was this: Leviticus 4:3 KJV “If the priest that is anointed do sin according to the sin of the people; then let him bring for his sin, which he hath sinned, a young bullock without blemish unto the LORD for a sin offering.” The very man representing the people before God also needed atonement for his own sins. That is deep. Imagine bringing your sins to someone who also had to bring a bull because of his own sins 😭

The book of  Leviticus repeatedly shows:
– sin offering,
– trespass offering,
– atonement,
– cleansing,
– blood sacrifices again and again.
At first, it almost feels like: “This book is obsessed with sin.” But the deeper you read, the more you realize the point: human beings could never save themselves. Not even the priests.

The priest was anointed, chosen, respected, and spiritually positioned, yet he was still flawed. He still needed mercy. He still needed cleansing. And honestly?
This speaks loudly to today’s church.

Modern Christianity has become dangerously obsessed with spiritual personalities. Some people trust pastors, prophets, bishops, and spiritual leaders more than they trust God Himself.
People defend leaders blindly.
People idolize “men of God.”
People almost treat some pastors like they are beyond correction or weakness.

But Leviticus reminds us:
even priests sinned. No human being can carry the weight of being someone’s saviour.
Pastors can guide.
Leaders can teach.
Prophets can encourage.
But none of them died for humanity. Only Jesus did.

Unlike the priests in Leviticus:
– Jesus did not need a sacrifice for Himself,
– He never sinned,
– He never failed,
– He never needed cleansing.
He became both: the Perfect Priest AND the Perfect Sacrifice.
Honestly, the more I read Leviticus, the more I understand why Jesus had to come.

Human leaders will fail eventually because they are human. That is why our faith must never be built entirely on people. If your Christianity collapses completely because a human leader failed, it may mean your focus was too attached to man and not deeply rooted in Christ.

Leviticus exposes the weakness of humanity so we can appreciate the perfection of Jesus. And honestly, modern believers need to appreciate the cross more deeply. Today we enjoy:
– direct access to God,
– grace,
– forgiveness,
– prayer without barriers,
– and relationship with God through Christ.
Yet many still live carelessly as though grace is cheap.

Leviticus shows us grace was never cheap. Blood was constantly shed because sin was serious. Jesus paid the final price so we could live transformed lives, not continue treating holiness casually.

The goal is not to worship spiritual leaders. The goal is not celebrity Christianity. The goal is not becoming emotionally dependent on human vessels. The goal is Christ. Jesus is the Priest. Jesus is the Sacrifice. Jesus is the Saviour.

Pray with me:
Father, help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus and not place human beings in positions only You should occupy. Thank You for Christ, the perfect High Priest and final sacrifice for sin. Teach me to value the work of the cross deeply and not take grace for granted. Help me live a life that honors You with sincerity, holiness, humility, and genuine devotion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
