I was meditating on Genesis 12, and one thing keeps standing out to me: God chooses to use anyone, no matter their background. Abraham didn’t grow up in a perfect home. His father worshipped idols, yet God still spoke to him. That tells me God is not looking at where you are coming from; He is looking at whether you are willing to listen and obey.
God said something very simple to Abraham: “Leave… and I will show you. Follow Me, and I will make you.” God did not explain what would happen on the journey. He didn’t talk about challenges or delays. He just said, leave. That tells us something important: obedience comes before clarity. God often asks us to move first, and understanding comes later.
When God says “follow Me,” He is asking for persistence. Keep walking. Keep trusting. Keep obeying. And as you go, you become. The Bible tells us that as we keep looking to Him, we are changed. Becoming doesn’t happen overnight; it happens along the journey.
Then look at the promise God gave Abraham. God said He would make him great, bless him, prosper him, and make him a blessing to others. Isn’t that what many of us are chasing today? Greatness, success, impact, meaning? God’s answer is simple: follow Me.
Joshua 1:8 reminds us to meditate on God’s Word and do what it says then we will prosper. Jesus also said, “Follow Me, and I will make you…”
So I ask myself, and I ask you: what instruction has God given you? What is stopping you? Why not take the first step? Let’s put this into practice for the next seven days. Let’s follow Him, and let’s watch what He makes of us.
