Build, Don’t Tear Down

Because my father instilled strong values in me, there are certain things you’ll never catch me doing or joining in on, especially on social media.

First, I will never engage in debates or arguments over scripture. Second, I will never use my platform to speak negatively about or tarnish anyone’s reputation, no matter how tempting.

Not long ago, I responded to a comment on one of my Facebook posts. Afterward, I received a message in my inbox asking for clarification. I told them to send their questions and I’d respond. However, they became frustrated when I asked them to send a voice note instead of having a phone call (not knowing it was a busy workweek for me). The person insisted on a call, wanting to debate the issue, even joking about being kidnapped over the phone. At that point, I politely ended the conversation.

Today, I saw a post where a pastor made a statement, backed by evidence, that left me feeling uncomfortable. It made me reflect on a lesson I believe the Holy Spirit had impressed upon me about the divisions within the body of Christ.

I remember when I was a new believer, filled with questions that went unanswered. There were so many conflicting teachings and doctrines, so I took it upon myself to dive into the Word and seek the truth. From the beginning, my commitment was to make Christ Jesus my personal Savior and Lord, and that decision has been the best I’ve ever made. That personal relationship with Him is the foundation I continue to follow.

I know many people have been hurt by issues in the church, leading some to fall away. I encourage you to take a moment and listen to my podcast, ‘The Way To Heaven.’ It may be just what you need. Please don’t be ignorant of the devil’s schemes. His tactics haven’t changed. He uses those closest to us to sow division and destruction. His mission to steal, kill, and destroy remains constant. Stay alert, and don’t become a tool of darkness. Don’t be part of the force that tears the church down.
